Getting Started with Your POS Terminal

Welcome to your new Paybyrd POS Terminal! This guide will help you get everything set up so you can start processing payments quickly and efficiently.

1. Network Setup: Connecting Your Terminal to Wi-Fi

Before you can start using your terminal, it's crucial to connect it to a stable network. While the terminal comes pre-configured to connect via a 4G network, using a secure Wi-Fi connection can offer faster transaction speeds and better reliability, especially in areas with weak mobile signals.

Steps:

  1. Navigate to Settings: Start by accessing the main menu on your terminal.

  2. Go to Advanced Options: This is where you'll find the network settings.

  3. Input the Operational Password: For security, you'll need to enter the operational password for the Paybyrd app.

  4. Proceed to System Settings: Here, you can configure network connections.

  5. Input the Operational Password for the Terminal: This ensures that only authorized personnel can change the network settings.

  6. Access Network & Internet: Select this option to see available networks.

  7. Toggle on the Wi-Fi Option: Ensure Wi-Fi is enabled.

  8. Select the Wi-Fi Network: Choose the network you wish to connect to and enter the password if required.

Why this is important: A stable network connection is vital for seamless payment processing. Wi-Fi might be preferable in environments where mobile networks are congested or unreliable.

2. Logging In to Your Terminal

Once your terminal is connected to a network, you'll need to log in with your credentials to access the Paybyrd system.

Steps:

  1. Enter Your Email and Password: Use the login credentials you received when setting up your Paybyrd account.

  2. Select Your Store Location: If you manage multiple stores, choose the correct one from the list.

  3. Wait for Initialization: The terminal will connect to the Paybyrd system. This might take a few moments, especially during the first login.

Why this is important: Logging in ensures that the terminal is linked to your specific store, enabling accurate transaction tracking and reporting.

3. Setting Up Payment Processing

With your terminal connected and logged in, you're ready to start accepting payments.

Steps:

  1. Press the “Payment” Key: This will bring up the payment processing screen.

  2. Enter the Transaction Amount: Input the amount you wish to charge the customer.

  3. Instruct the Customer to Present Their Card: The terminal will prompt the customer to tap, insert, or swipe their card.

  4. Complete the Transaction: Once the payment is processed, you’ll have the option to print a receipt for the customer if your terminal supports this function.

Why this is important: This basic process is the core function of your terminal, allowing you to receive payments securely and efficiently.

Tips for a Smooth Experience:

  • Use Wi-Fi in Busy Areas: In environments where multiple devices are connected to the same network, using Wi-Fi can help maintain a stable connection.

  • Keep Your Terminal Charged: Ensure your terminal is always charged, especially if you’re using it on the go.

  • Regularly Update Your Software: Software updates can include important security patches and feature enhancements. Make sure your terminal’s software is up to date.
